About This Program

This 10-week, small-group program helps older Queenslanders strengthen the practical knowledge and confidence needed for everyday life. Topics include communication, consumer awareness, transport, household technology and finding trusted information and services. Guided activities, plain-language instruction and culturally responsive support help participants make informed decisions and maintain greater independence.

Why This Program Matters

Community Need

Changes in services, technology and everyday systems can create confusion and reduce independence, particularly for older people facing language, information or access barriers.

Program Purpose

The program builds practical capability so participants can manage common tasks, understand their options and navigate everyday services with greater confidence.

Accessible Delivery

Real-life examples, small groups, repetition and culturally responsive support make learning relevant, accessible and easier to apply at home and in the community.

Intended Outcomes

Greater confidence, more informed decisions, improved ability to manage everyday tasks and stronger participation in community life.
