Overview

About This Program

This 10-week, small-group program brings older Queenslanders from diverse backgrounds together through music, storytelling, creative learning and cultural activities. Supported participation enables people to share identity and lived experience, build relationships and contribute to a welcoming community. The program is designed to reduce social isolation, strengthen belonging and encourage intercultural understanding.

Why This Program Matters

Community Need

Social isolation, language barriers and limited culturally relevant activities can reduce older people’s opportunities to connect, participate and feel a sense of belonging.

Program Purpose

The program creates meaningful opportunities for older people to build relationships, express themselves and contribute through shared creative experiences.

Accessible Delivery

Welcoming small groups, facilitator guidance and culturally responsive activities enable participation without requiring previous creative or performance experience.

Intended Outcomes

Stronger social connection, increased confidence and belonging, greater community participation and positive relationships across cultures.
